Apple <3 Rayman Jungle Run With an App Store Best of 2012 Award

First prize is a pair of arms.
When Rayman Origins came out a few years back, it wasn’t long before it started haunting the $20 or less bin. While it wasn’t a sales failure, it wasn’t any kind of hit, either, leading to speculation that this was the last we’d see of Rayman’s gorgeous world and fantastic animation. Ubisoft, on the other hand, figured differently and retooled the gameplay for iOS, and what do they get for their efforts? Best Game of the Year 2012 from Apple!
Rayman Jungle Run is an auto-scrolling platformer where the object is to collect all 100 Lums in a level. Each level is short enough to blow through quickly but learning the correct platforming path takes a fair amount of practice. It uses the same UbiArt system that Origins had, which lends it a fantastically vibrant look that almost pops off the screen. As if that wasn’t enough, Ubisoft even released a free update with 10 new levels and a handful of other goodies to play with. With a well-deserved award under his belt and a major new console game early 2013, it’s safe to say that Rayman’s return is officially a success.
