Big E Rallies for Fans to Support DOA5: Last Round at EVO 2015

Big E Rallies for Fans to Support DOA5: Last Round at EVO 2015

Earlier this week, the EVO 2015 tournament lineup was revealed, featuring a total of 9 games that would be hosted at the international competitive event. Although most fighting game groups were content with this year’s roster—a couple of games, including Dead or Alive 5: Last Round didn’t make the cut.

This prompted veteran tournament organizer Eric Small (commonly known as ‘Big E’) who has pioneered some of the East Coast’s most successful events (NEC, Winter Brawl, Summer Jam) to step in. His campaigned for players to rally their support by coming out to Las Vegas and proving that Dead or Alive could still have a presence at EVO despite its absence from this year’s lineup. The following statement was posted earlier on Facebook:

Ok we didn’t make it this year :/ but I want to have a side tournament at EVO. We have to show them we belong at Evo 2016. They watch every major that Doa is at so we have to step up big time this year. It starts at Winter Brawl 9. I need everyone’s help. Who’s behind me? I WANT TO GET GREAT NUMBERS AT EVO. Let’s show the POWER OF DOA FGC.

Big E essentially is asking for all genuine fans, spectators and competitors to make the trek to Las Vegas this year and help the tournament personnel (and the rest of the fighting game community) to prove that Dead or Alive is the type of game that can be taken more seriously.

Earlier in the week, Team Ninja’s Creative Director Tom Lee made a very heartfelt statement to the entire community expressing why everyone should make an earnest effort to support their respective games by attending tournaments (and competing.) Over the years, Team Ninja has gone to great lengths to enhance the quality of their fighting game franchise and it would be greatly disappointing to see all of their hard work go unappreciated.

On a related note, the company just published a 20-minute gameplay clip of Dead or Alive 5: Last Round that every diehard fan and fighting enthusiast definitely needs to check out — today! As for EVO, you often hear the line “this is the year you don’t want to miss.” Well, that statement couldn’t have more significance in 2015, especially with such a diverse lineup of 2D/3D games that will be hosted this year in Vegas.

Will you be there? Book your ticket ASAP!
