Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate Kicking It Up a Notch, Introducing 2v2 Mode, 200+ Costumes, and More

The newest addition is definitely living up to its name.
Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate is going all out with a new set of features, which is sure to make it one of the most definitive and popular releases in the series to date. For the first time ever, Dead or Alive 2 v 2 action is finally coming to the online realm, due to popular demand. Hook up with your friends and take on other challengers in standard player exhibition and ranked matches. A new “Prize Fighter” ranking system will also be included, divided into four classes (Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum) that are earned based upon your ability to consistently defeat opponents online.
Tecmo Koei notes that Prize Fighters earn extra Grade Points with wins and those who defeat another Prize Fighter receive a GP bonus. Grade Points have been updated now allowing for players to earn up to Grade U from S+. Bonus GPs are rewarded when fighters move to the next grade level. Character Points, a feature that’s been commonly featured in Capcom’s Street Fighter 4 series will also be introduced, allowing online competitors to instantly get an accurate skill level of your favorite fighters, as well as how they stack up in global rankings.

Steps are being made to streamline the netcode to ensure DOA5U offers a much smoother experience from its predecessor, as well as improved matchmaking performance to reduce the amount of time it takes to locate new challengers actively playing onilne. Last, but certainly not least – we all know how much everyone loves the ability to personalize their characters with unique costumes. DOA5 Ultimate will be loaded with 231 costumes, however you’ll need to actively compete and meet certain conditions to unlock the entire selection.
Players who missed out on the chance to play the game last week at Summer Jam 6, hosted in Philadelphia should make plans to head out to Raleigh, NC as the first official East Coast collaboration known as The Fall Classic will be hosting a tournament for the game and will include an $8,000 pot bonus. And if that wasn’t enough of an incentive, atteendees who compete in the game will all be eligible to attend a special VIP party, hosted in conjunction with the folks at Konsole Kings, one of the gaming community’s most recognized brands that recently covered the Street Fighter 25th Anniversary tournament events. If you’re a true fan, this is one event you can’t afford to miss out on.
Look for Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate to drop next month, on September 3.
