Get Ready for the ESL Mortal Kombat X Pro League
ESL has quickly established itself as one of the most popular and thriving competitive organizations over the past few years. Its hosted some of the most memorable tournaments for popular franchises like Halo, Guild Wars, and DOTA. Now, it’s expanding its net to include one of the most highly anticipated fighting games: Mortal Kombat X will be added to the ESL Pro tournament circuit.
According to the main attraction page, tournaments will be hosted on a weekly frequency where competitors have a shot at prize pools starting at $100k. The pre-season will kick off beginning next month on April 19 and run through April 29. We should point out these are online-based events and will lead into the first official season of Pro League Qualifiers, Mid-Season, 2nd Half, Season Finals Qualifiers, and finally – the ESL Pro League Season 1 Finals set to take place on July 11.
A second event, known as the Fatal 8 Exhibition, scheduled to take place on April 11 will feature 8 selected pro competitors going head to head in the ESL studios in Burbank, California. The entire roster of competitors will be announced over time, however Perfect Legend and Ryan Hart have both acknowledged via Twitter hat they’ll be participating in this highly anticipated event.
ESL has already got the hype train running with its first teaser trailer (featured below. I imagine all the well-known competitors (i.e. Tom Brady, Perfect Legend, SonicFox, CDjr) will be gearing up for this event and it’s sure to attract some new faces along the way.
