Gran Turismo 6 To Go Where No Console Racing Sim Has Ever Gone Before

Well, they already went to the moon, what could be next?

Polyphony Digital Incorporated and the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (often referred to as the FIA) have announced a long term partnership that will change how future content for the series is produced.

The FIA, is very much like the International Olympic committee for motorsports. From Formula 1, to World Rally, to Grand Touring, they govern almost all major forms of racing from the lowest levels to the premier circuits.

The FIA analyzed the real world circuits and gave them the seal of approval on four of the current courses, citing intricate course and environmental detail. Going forward, all courses in Gran Turismo 6 will be subject to FIA scrutiny.  Ensuring accuracy, and congruence with the official records of the courses.

In 2015, the FIA Online Championship will begin, and fans will be able to race in FIA sanctioned events. And an “engagement with real motorsport” was mentioned. It is unclear at this time what this means.

The full details of the partnership are yet to be released, but this could open up a number of new avenues for the Gran Turismo 6; and the franchise as a whole, especially going into the next generation on PS4.
