Obvious Reality, Analyst Says Next-Gen Shortages are “Likely”

Preorder and the sanity will set you free.
Consumers have been in advised the Xbox One and PS4 will likely experience shortages when both systems launch later this year due to what financial analyst Colin Sebastian attributes to the “complexity” of coordinating the launches. Colin expresses to Gamespot that the reality would explain why Microsoft and Sony have been “somewhat judicious in allocating pre-sales, so that there won’t be a lot of unhappy customers from day one.”
Previously, the Xbox One struggled to gain any traction with pre-orders until they announced plans to reverse their policies on used games, digital rights and the always-on requirements. Meanwhile, Sony gained a head-start due to the initial controversy established from Microsoft’s fiasco. In the end, the demand for both systems have unprecedented, according to Ubisoft, indicating several retailers reported preorders have exceeded historic figures from existing consoles.
Units will become increasingly scarce as we draw closer to November, in which Sebastian advises would be the most practical time in which both units should launch. . .preferably before Thanksgiving/Black Friday “in order to replenish the retail channel.” With the odds of finding a unit unaccounted for, this may be a good time to jump on the bandwagon and make a reservation before it’s too late.
