Pardon the Interruption — Xbox Live Has Been Hacked

So if you’ve been scrambling throughout social media to inquire if you’re the only one experiencing connection issues with Xbox Live, don’t worry – you’re not alone. No, the service isn’t down for maintenance work or dashboard upgrades, Xbox Live was hacked.

Over the past hour, users have reported experiencing the error code: 80151909 error code — it warns that an Xbox Live profile has failed to download — when users attempt to sign in. We made several attempts to hop online and encountered the same results, no thanks to the hacker group Lizard Squad that’s assumed responsibility via Twitter.

Lizard Group has declared their organization as the definitive kings of issuing the DDoS attacks and recently made a tweet that they were preparing a larger attack when Xbox Live hits; apparently today was just a taste of something much greater.

Not looking forward to what’s to come. . .

This is the same group that reportedly was responsible for taking down the PlayStation Network and impacted several high profile games including League of Legends, Destiny, and Grand Theft Auto 5. Well, at least I can still play Clash of Clans without incident.

Looks like we’ll all have to find something else to occupy your time until thing are restored, though the bigger concern remains – who will they strike next?
