PlayStation Vue is Your Alternative to Cable Television; Available Everywhere in 2015
75 channels at launch, more to come.

Sony Computer Entertainment wants to bring you the icing on the cake when it comes to evolving their gaming platforms into the ultimate experience for various types of media. With a plethora of streaming outlets already available for the Playstation 3 and Playstation 4, as well as being able to play BluRay movies, what other directions could the platforms take for your entertainment purposes?
Enter the PlayStation Vue (pronounced ‘view’); an internally developed and cloud-based TV service slated to officially launch during the first quarter of 2015. PlayStation Vue will allow the subscriber to stream cable programming directly from their PS3/PS4 systems without the need for a subscription from an actual cable provider. President and Group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc., Andrew House, attempts to sell us on this newly-announced project:
“PlayStation™Vue reinvents the traditional viewing experience so your programming effortlessly finds you, enabling you to watch much more of what you want and search a lot less. PlayStation™Vue brings the best of live TV and a robust catalog of the latest content, always keeping you connected to what’s popular, new and trending. Today’s announcement builds on the historic success of PlayStation®4 and demonstrates what our company is capable of when we embrace disruption and stay true to gamers.”
PlayStation Vue will be tested and refined with the rollout of an invite-only beta period lasting until approximately the end of November. The city of New York will be among the first to preview PlayStation Vue, along with Chicago, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia not trailing too far behind. The beta will include an estimated 75 channels including CBS, Fox Sports, NBC, Comedy Central, VH1 and many more.
It is also stated that PlayStation Vue will roll out to the Apple iPad and other smart devices as the date for commercial release nears. You can view the full press release here.
