Quoth The Gamer: Evolution 2014

With the stakes at their highest, emotions ran even higher.
EVO 2014, has come and gone. The world’s largest fighting game tournament rightfully held that title this year. With a staggering number of entrants, the stars shined their brightest on this grand stage.
I have never witnessed an EVO like this one. I was following Street Fighter all weekend with it’s 2,000 entrants. Everyone that I thought would get far was eliminated early on during day one.
There were just so many upsets and great matches. Nothing was more amazing than watching Luffy’s performance in the grand finals. He played one of the absolute best in the world and won dominantly.
There were a lot of champions crowned at EVO. However, there’s something to be said when it has meaning. Showing emotion may be frowned upon by many, but I give it the utmost respect. Those tears of joy were hard work paying off.
Congratulations to CDJR for winning Killer Instinct! Justin Wong tried to play spoiler to this tale, but he would not on this day. In the end, his last obstacle was a friend that put up a great fight.
One the most noted of titans, reclaimed his title in the series he is most known for. Since being included in the EVO lineup, Justin has only made top 8 in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3.
He had to get past Flocker, whom he lost to in the grand finals of EVO 2013. He then faced fierce opposition in Filipino Champ, the EVO 2012 champion . He then defeated Chris G, one of the strongest UMvC3 players that you can find in the grand finals.
This EVO will be one to remember for sure. It’s already impacting the fighting game landscape, and I can’t wait to see what comes next.
