Red Bull Battle Grounds Takes on Detroit

It’s about to go down!

Red Bull Battle Grounds is back, and this time their heading to Detroit. For the first time ever, Detroit will hold one of the biggest tournaments around, StarCarft II. The three day tournament will bring players from around the globe, Including Australia, Korea, Canada and Mexico, in order to compete in front of a live audience of fans.

Whats at stake? A $25 thousand prize pool, as well as being in the final remaining spot. The remaining 8 will take to the stage once again for the Red Bull Battle Ground Finals September 20th-21st in Washington, D.C.

For those of you living in the Detroit, Michigan area and would to attend, here is some information:

WHERE: The Garden Theatre | 3929 Woodward Ave. | Detroit, Michigan

WHEN: Friday, August 22nd – Sunday, August 24th | Doors open at 10AM, tournament begins at 11AM each day

WHO: Well-known StarCraft II players from around the world as well as up-and-comers anxious for the chance to compete on the tournament stage.

Notable competitors include:

  • David “Walshy” Walsh – Michigan native, and former pro Halo: Reach player, coming out of retirement for one time only, to support the Michigan eSports scene
  • Kim “viOLet” Dong Hwan & Choi “Polt” Seong Hun – The first and second StarCraft II players to be awarded an athlete visa by the US Government, these Korean powerhouses are training in Atlanta these days, and ready for win in Detroit
  • Olivia ‘Livibee’ Seeto – Popular Australian player making a name for herself in the US tournament scene

In addition the company will also be hosting a special ‘BarCraft’ viewing party on August 24th at Public Tenley in DC, allowing attendees to watch the final day of Red Bull Battle Grounds Detroit, and see the final competitor earn their spot on the Grand Finals stage. Event emcee extraordinaire – who will be our host in DC – Sean “Day[9]” Plott will be at this event to meet and greet with fans.
