Review: Super Ultra Dead Rising 3 Arcade Remix Hyper Edition EX Plus Alpha

Street Fighter x Zombies!
I was extremely excited when I saw the trailer for Super Ultra Dead Rising 3 Arcade Remix Hyper Edition EX Plus Alpha. Not only because I’m a big fan of Dead Rising, but because I’ve been using this same name to reference every other release of Street Fighter. So to see Capcom come out and not take itself so seriously with this title was a great thing.
I had such a good time playing Super Dead Rising! I honestly wish that it were a stand-alone title so that more people could experience it. The music was well selected, and the game feels like an old school arcade brawler. If you were wondering if Guile’s theme went along with zombie slaying, it does very well.
You’ll spend most of your time completing objectives to advance the level before time runs out. These range from killing a certain amount of zombies, to finding civilians trapped around the city. If you’re playing alone, it can be difficult. You’ll find yourself reaching into your pocket for quarters! You’re rewarded with currency that you need to unlock characters as well as a spot on the leader boards depending on your score.
There’s 20 characters in all. You start with four, and the rest you have to unlock. My favorite has to be Regina, her super involves a Pterodactyl, and is highly amusing. Speaking of which, all characters have a unique super move that you can use once you’ve built up enough meter. Some have more meters to fill than others, but all are unique to their respective characters.
I would urge anyone with access to an Xbox One to go ahead and get this game. Dead Rising 3 is a great game in it’s own right. However, it’s story can be pretty heavy at times. Super Dead Rising is a welcome addition for those who need a break for some good old fashioned fun! This is a game for those who miss the days of replaying levels to find the secrets, and unlocking hidden content. It’s so much fun to have 4 players going at each other trying to get the high score. The chaotic action is bound to keep everyone on their toes!
