Show Us Your Mobile Gear!

Let’s see what you got! Send us your favorite on the go tech!
Working in running a region of six sales teams in the telecommunications industry involves lots of travel but at the same time it gives me the opportunity to utilize a lot of mobile tech which is what I love to play with anyway.
I like to say that the world is my office since I work just about everywhere – not just from a desk but from the floor, to a bench, in a car, on a plane, etc… and there’s no way in hell that I’m going to be able to carry my 27-inch iMac with me. So here’s a look at my ever changing mobile gear – my home away from home!
The Bag: Macbook Hard Case by Waterfield Designs
For about 5 years, I’ve carried a Targus messenger bag (which is actually this article’s featured image) which has served me well but it’s been worn out. About a month ago, I gave myself an upgrade and picked up the MacBook Hard Case by Waterfield Designs for which starts at $239 and let me tell you, it was worth every penny. Sure it’s not an Italian designer bag but with a lifetime warranty and proudly made in the USA, Waterfield Design bags just reek of quality. It has room for all the essentials aside from my 15-inch Macbook Pro such as hotspot, pens, iPad, chargers, etc. With all the traveling I do, it’s not that heavy and I have no problem hopping from one airport to another with all my gear while not having to look like a highschool student for my business travel!
The Laptop: Macbook Pro Retina 15″
I used to carry a Macbook Air as my main machine but since my work demands a lot of writing, spreadsheets, presentations, and reports from Sales Force, 13-inches at 1440×900 just doesn’t cut it anymore. The MacBook Pro 15″ with Retina display has a gorgeous screen and weighing at 4.46lbs, it’s not THAT much heavier than the 13-inch Air. Sure it doesn’t last up to 12 hours like the Air but 9 hours with a better screen and processing power is a much more valuable trade off. Oh with an i7 processor powered by an Nvidia GeForce GT 750 video processor, this thing can handle all your Steam games on the go!
The Phone: iPhone 5S 64GB and HTC One M8
I carry the iPhone 5S as my personal phone and the HTC One M8 for work so I do get the privilege of working with the best of both worlds. Both are really great devices but they aren’t perfect. iPhone 5S has an excellent, reliable camera along with a huge library of apps which I took as my main device on my two week trip to Taiwan and Guam. However, the screen 4″ screen size is unsatisfying and the battery life is terrible.
The M8 is one of the best Android Devices available with it’s awesome all day battery life and big screen. I also love the camera interface but HTC shot themselves in the foot when they stuck with the 4MP “Ultra-Pixel” camera where the photo quality was inconsistent and sometimes overexposed. When I travel for work, and want to watch a movie on the plan, this is the go to device and I can shed some weight in my bag by not bringing a tablet.
Other Stuff I Carry:
- iPad Air with LTE (rarely nowadays)
- Mophie 6000 Mah Powerbank
- Mophie Juicepack Air for iPhone 5S
- Verizon MiFi Hotspot
- Business Cards
- USB Cables
