Street Fighter V is Coming Out When?

Street Fighter V is Coming Out When?

How long will avid Street Fighter fans have to wait before the next iteration is released? Well, if the statements from Capcom producer Tomoaki Ayano still holds true, then Street Fighter V won't be making its debut for another 4 more years.

Four. More. Years.

In an interview with Gamespot conducted last August, the producer expressed that "Game development is a long and arduous process. If you look at the history of the series, it took six years to go from Street Fighter II to Street Fighter III, and nine years to go from Street Fighter III to Street Fighter IV."

So why would we be treated to a teaser this soon? Could it be that the production could now be ahead of schedule? It would seem that a follow-up interview would be in order. Last weekend, we got our first official glimpse of the new project in action showcasing some new battle mechanics that suggest the company is looking to incorporate some new bolder concepts in the Street Fighter blueprint. Notable highlights include OTG moves, a much desired Guard Break meter as well as interactive stages that break away and reveal newer areas in similar fashion to Injustice. Capcom plans to unveil some additional details revealing some new remarkable changes including the first gameplay showcase live at the Capcom Cup in San Francisco.

With such an ambitious focus on the fifth installment, accepting the reality of the game coming sooner than later right now just seems too far fetched. It would seem the plans have accelerated and that certainly isn't a bad thing for the fighting game genre right now.
