Team Newbee Wins $5 Million in Dota 2 Finals

It was a good day for Dota 2 and eSports.

On Monday, Seattle’s Key Arena played host to the grand finals of The International, DOTA 2‘s premier tournament. At the end, Team Newbee came out on top, winning the top prize of $5,000,000, or $1,000,000 for each of the five members of the team!

Over the weekend, Team Newbee battled through team after team eventually earning a spot in the grand final against team Vici Gaming. When the two Chinese teams battled, Newbee lost the first match, but would wind up winning three straight games, wining the tournament.

While Team Newbee won the big prize, Team Vici still won a payday $1.5 million. It’s also worth noting that The International was featured on ESPN.
