The R/L Button: FGC Twitter Wars

What a week for the FGC…on Twitter!
Over the last week the there were a few Twitter wars that certainly got noticed by the fighting game community. Although social media clashes are common, there were three that stood out among the rest. Time to grab some Cheddar Goldfish and read all about the madness.
PDP Vs. Chris G
Last week PDP announced the the end of Team AGE, consequentially ending the cutting off a few players, including Chris G.
Despite Chris G’s fate being altered by Team AGE’s end, he stated on Twitter that he found out about this . PDP Candace said that . This back and forth certainly got noticed by the FGC and has certainly had people talking for one or two days.
Black Mamba Vs. the FGC
The FGC has its flaws, and lots of them, from the saturation of majors to players, even some veterans, attacking the people who want to make the FGC BETTER! Former Championship Gaming Series player BlackMamba calls out the scene in a blog post called “FGC Manifesto” where he pretty much called all the grassroots tournaments from Evo on down “absolute TRASH” for their supposed lack of professionalism. He then declared that Major League Gaming ran better fighting game tournaments, nothing the huge venues, matches run on time with no excuses, and prizes that put most other FG tournaments to shame.
Anytime anyone calls the the FGC’s most revered tournaments “trash”, some people will go to Twitter to defend the three wheeled wagon. But something tells that BlackMamba wouldn’t bothered by the response.
Reo Vs. Perfect Legend
This one started when Arturo Sanchez stated that Reo was the best Mortal Kombat 9 player because of his overall tournament performance throughout the life of the game. That didn’t settle too well with PerfectLegend. He said that since he never won Evo and that Evo was “the only tournament that counts”, pretty much saying that whatever else Reo wins in the year does not matter at all.
Then Reo counters with a on the Test Your Might forum. Reo quoted (and linked) PL’s tweets then debunks them by stating facts that were pretty much concrete. And for the cherry on top, Reo challeged PL to money match at this year’s Evo.
Responds by turning down Reo’s challenge, stating he had , and stating even more of what Reo calls “Fraudulent Legend Facts”. This compelled Reo to set off another explosion even making PerfectLegend even more silly. People will be looking at this feud for a while.
Last week was quite a week for those who follow Twitter wars, and yes there are people who follow this type of stuff. It will be a while before we see this much action in the FGC Twittersphere for a while.
