Worlds Adrift is Like Skies of Arcadia Meets Minecraft
Bossa Studios has been hard at work on their new adventure sandbox project Worlds Adrift, currently in development for the PC by the London-based studio. For the moment, we’re not actually sure what the premise is behind Worlds. So we did some digging and was able to extract a few notable details:
- Exploration will play a major factor in the title and the studio is giving a great deal of attention to the game’s atmosphere.
- The art style presents a look similar to the classic Flashback and Out of This World franchise (flat colors, low polys)
- A great deal of attention will be applied to physics, as the studio demonstrated in its previous productions (Surgeon Simulator, I am Bread)
- Day and night cycles will be incorporated ala Metal Gear Solid V
- The character (who’s name has not been disclosed at this time) will possess a variety of different abilities using a “multi-tool” that opens up a variety of basic tasks including the ability to repair, craft new items (the featured video below shows off the character’s ability to create a crossbow to use for attacking enemies and complete specific objectives.
I am intrigued by what Worlds has to offer, despite the fact the title is still early in the production phase. There’s still a great deal of work ahead to make the third-person camera flow more smoothly and seeing a bit more action couldn’t hurt either. Have some ideas you’d like to share? The studio is inviting all interested parties to offer constructive feedback on how to refine Worlds Adrift by accessing the feedback from available here.
We’re not sure if the Worlds will make an appearance at PAX East, but if this does end up a possibility, expect some additional highlights to follow when we make our way out to Boston next month.
