XSEED Brings Unchained Blades to US 3DSesses

Leaping from the PSP to the 3DS, it’s portable dungeon crawling time!

XSEED announced today that its first person, turn based, 4-member party, dungeon crawling RPG Unchained Blades has successfully made the transition to 3DS, and they’ll be bringing it to US as a downloadable title on Nintendo’s eShop.  While it’s hard to go wrong with a bit of subterranian grid-based spelunking, Unchained Blades’ real claim to fame is the names associated with it.  In addition to members of both the Lunar and Grandia teams being responsible for the game’s direction and story, character designs are by artists from series such as Someday’s Dreamers, Sega’s Shining series, Lunar, Idolm@ster, Samurai Shodown, and many more.

Aside from an ensemble cast of creators and designers, the other hook to Unchained Blades is its monster catching system.  You can catch monsters as you go, “unchaining” them to join your party.  Each party member can have four monsters under their wing, lending unique abilities to the battle.  Mixing and matching creatures is designed to provide some good variety to your battle strategies, once you’ve got a good menagerie on your side.

Unchained Blades is going to be available January 3rd for $29.99, which may be some kind of record for shortest time between announcing a game and having it available for sale.
